Frequently Asked Questions

What days are available for sailing?

We offer sailing cruises Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday each week. We also set sail for certain special events, usually on weekends, on a first-come-first-serve basis, so ask your captain for upcoming events. All sails have a required minimum time of two hours.

As a small operation we are able to make special exceptions and accommodations, so get in touch with us if there is a special situation.

How far in advance should I schedule my trip?

The minimum time to schedule a cruise is two days in advance, but getting in touch with us early on can help speed up the process and make it more simple for you to get out on the water. All cruises require a two hour minimum reservation time.

Are children allowed?

We welcome children, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Children 12 and under will be required to wear their life jackets during the entire duration of the trip.

Do you accept parties of one?

While we accept parties of one, we may group individuals together for scheduling and simplicity purposes. The largest party we may take is four.

Do I need to know anything about sailing?

Don’t worry! The captain and crew handle all the work, leaving you to relax with your party. We welcome your questions about the process and skill of sailing, however, so ask away!

What should I wear/bring?

Dress for the weather. Expect it to be up to ten degrees cooler on the lake than on the land. Do not wear black-soled-shoes. Be prepared for the sun! Bring a hat and sun block. Cameras and other electronics are permitted, but be aware that the captain and crew cannot be held responsible if anything is dropped, soaked, or otherwise damaged on the trip.

Don’t forget your swimming gear and a towel! If the weather and captain permits, we may take a dive into the lake once we’re out on the water!

What if the weather is foul?

The ship’s captain will make all final calls regarding inclement weather and safety. The safety of our guests is our top priority, and we will not set sail if the weather presents an unsafe condition. Cancellations made by the captain will be rescheduled (at no additional fees) at a time that works best for you and may be subject to additional benefits at the captain’s discretion.

What about rescheduling/cancellations?

Cancellations made by the captain will be rescheduled at a time that works best for you and may be subject to additional benefits at the captain’s discretion.

Cancellations made by the guest at least 48 hours in advance may be rescheduled at no additional cost.

Cancellations made by the guest less than 48 hours in advance will receive a 50% refund.

Can I bring food and drink?

Yes! We recommend light snacks and drinks. Messy and heavy snacks are more likely to cause seasickness. Please do not bring glass containers or red-dyed drinks (like red wine). Alcohol is permitted and any drinking guests must have valid state-issued identification to confirm their age. The captain asks that you drink with discretion and reserves the right to limit consumption or end the cruise prematurely for any safety concern he may perceive.

(We hear the captain and crew love snacks too!)
